About the Artist
Lukas Hasler is part of a new generation of organists who have made an international name for themselves through virtuosity, creativity, and media presence. He currently lives and works between Vienna and Los Angeles, where he is a doctoral candidate at the University of Southern California under Cherry Rhodes. He previously completed his concert organ studies with distinction at the University of Music and Performing Arts (Graz, Austria), with Ulrich Walther. There, he also earned a master’s degree in Cultural and Media Management.
Hasler’s concert engagements have taken him to prestigious stages around the world: from Brisbane City Hall (Australia), and the Russian Philharmonic Festival (Volgograd), to the famous Bruckner Organ in St. Florian (Austria). In the United States, he has performed in cathedrals from coast to coast and in legendary venues such as the Meuthen Memorial Music Hall (Boston). Other highlights include his participation in the opening festival of the Salzburg Festival and numerous American Guild of Organists conventions, most recently in Fort Worth last July.
In 2022, Hasler made a powerful musical statement of solidarity. He was the first classical musician to perform at the Lviv Concert Hall after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, giving two benefit concerts for victims of the conflict.
Hasler is also in demand as a teacher. He has given international masterclasses at institutions including the Madrid Royal Conservatory and the University of Almaty, Kazakhstan.
In addition to his organ playing, Hasler is active as a composer and arranger. His early works received awards from Germany’s Jugend Kompeniert competition, and his organ transcriptions have since become a regular part of his repertoire.
A significant milestone in his career was marked by his recordings on the grand organ of the Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein (July 2025). His solo CD A Portrait (2019), featuring works of Bach, Liszt, Dupré, and his own improvisations, was enthusiastically received by press and public alike. That same year, Graz newspaper Kleine Zeitung named him “Newcomer of the Year” following multiple wins at the Prima la Musica competition and the Grand Prix at the International Organ Competition (Malta).
Hasler’s new passion project, Organ for Planet, combines music with global awareness; he plays organ concerts in extraordinary locations around the globe, notable for their geographic position, cultural history, or political significance. The project began with a concert at St. Thomas Church (New York), held right after the November 2024 elections. His journey has since taken him to the unique cave organ in the Luray Caverns (Virginia), the world’s largest church in Yamoussoukro (Ivory Coast), and, in August 2025, Svalbard (Norway). Svalbard lies well within the Arctic Circle and is the northernmost permanently inhabited place on Earth.
With over 100,000 followers on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, Herr Hasler is one of the most visible and influential organists worldwide, as an artist, communicator, and bridge-builder between tradition and the present.
